The show's star can’t wait to go back to filming once the WAG-SAG-AFTRA strike ends.

Days and months are flying by, but the writers' and actors' joint strike shows no signs of stopping. Rallying for better pay from streaming services, the protesters seem to have brought Hollywood to a near standstill, as numerous productions have now been indefinitely delayed. Netflix's hit drama, Virgin River, is among them.

Premiering in 2019, Virgin River quickly became a fan favourite series on Netflix, boasting four seasons since its debut. Although the show's fifth instalment is dropping tomorrow, it has already been renewed for a sixth season. However, filming will not commence until the strikes end, meaning the Virgin River cast is currently occupied with everything but the show. Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays Mel Monroe, is a prime example.

The Actress Keeps Busy on Social Media While Virgin River is on Hold

Since no shows are being produced in Hollywood at the moment, actors can't simply take on another role to occupy their free time. Naturally, they seek to stay busy with other activities. Virgin River's star, Alexandra Breckenridge, has turned to sharing cooking videos on Instagram to keep her sanity.

'I feel like I've been cooking since I got back from dropping off my daughter at school. I'm trying to do something fun and creative with my time because SAG is on strike and I can't go back to work and I can't even talk about work,' the actress explained in her Instagram shorts (via Hello! Magazine).

Breckenridge says she finds this hiatus from work very strange and unusual, as she has grown accustomed to the process over the five years on Virgin River.

'I can't post anything, I can't promote anything. It's very weird. I'm not usually somebody who likes doing a lot of promotion or interviews just because it can be rather daunting and stressful. So I'm trying to do cooking because that's what I love to do and share with you when I'm at home strike or no strike,' the show's start went on.

We see you, Alexandra! Hopefully, a resolution to the ongoing Hollywood crisis will be found soon, and our beloved projects will resume filming promptly. As for Virgin River's season 5, it is set for release tomorrow, 7 September.
