Virgin River Holiday Episodes' Biggest Twist? Mel's Father Identity

This is the season of Virgin River. With many shows delayed due to the Hollywood strikes, Netflix seems to have made the best decision to split the new fifth chapter of its hit romantic series into two parts and air the two holiday specials closer to Christmastime, on November 30th.
As this will be the first holiday episodes in the show's history, naturally, fans are reeling in anticipation and obsessing over every piece of new information about them. And it looks like their wait will not be in vain.
The trailer for Part 2 of Season 5 promises to be filled with romance, mystery and drama in the best Virgin River tradition.
Pivotal Events & Biggest Mystery
Judging by the trailer, Virgin River will celebrate its first on-screen Christmas with a bang. The idyllic Northern Carolina town is set to be buried in heartwarming, glowing holiday decorations. Against the backdrop of this Christmas craze, several pivotal events will take place.
Charmaine is finally about to give birth to her twins! That alone is cause for celebration. But the biggest twist of the upcoming episodes will not be related to the long-awaited labor. The new installment will focus on the mystery of Mel's biological father.
The Search & Answers
In the Season 5 midseason finale, Mel's sister shocked the protagonist and viewers when she found their late mother's old letters from a resident of Virgin River. The contents of the letters led her to believe that this mysterious man must be Mel's biological father. What a coincidence!
The new trailer shows that Mel will dive into this mystery in the upcoming specials, enlisting the help of Preacher. And it looks like their search will be a success.
‘He is still right here, in Virgin River,’ Preacher tells Mel and Jack in the trailer.
This leads us to believe that he knows exactly who Mel's father is. Director Gail Harvey also confirmed in her interview with EW that Part 2 will reveal the identity of the mysterious man.
‘It’s definitely part of the two episodes, and it’s actually quite amazing,’ the director said. ‘I'm very proud of the way that it all worked out.’
Well, whoever you think Mel's father might be, it looks like we are all in for some fascinating revelations on November 30th. We can't wait to see what's in store for our beloved characters. What about you?
