Virgin River Fans Are Divided Over These 2 Finale Theories
Both would be legitimately great endings for the fan-favorite show.
Summary
- Fans look forward to the next installment of the beloved series.
- The audience is anticipating the show's conclusion.
- There are two wildly different finale theories that are dividing fans.
The highly anticipated second part of Virgin River Season 5 premiered just two weeks ago, but it seems to be all fans can talk about right now. The Christmas specials brought a lot of holiday cheer to viewers and offered many satisfying plot twists, including Doc and Hope's engagement, Lizzie and Denny's family planning, Charmaine (finally) giving birth to her twins, and Mel finding her biological father. Naturally, viewers are most excited for the next installment of the beloved Netflix show.
Luckily, Season 6 is already in the works, with the writers polishing the scripts and the cast preparing for filming, which is set to begin in the spring of 2024. And while there hasn't been any news of Virgin River wrapping up anytime soon, fans feel that the end is near. For this reason, many are considering what they would like to see happen on the show before its finale. Most importantly, viewers have two specific endings for VR in mind - and those don't mix.
Domestic Bliss
Since its 2019 premiere, Virgin River has followed the romance between Mel Monroe, a newcomer to the titular town, and Jack Sheridan, who owns the local bar. Over the course of the show's five-season run, this love story has seen its share of happy moments and hardships, as the characters have parted ways and reunited time and time again.
With that in mind, it's not surprising that the audience is deeply invested in the couple and wants the Virgin River finale to focus on them. Given Mel and Jack's intentions to start a family together, many feel that a scene of them sharing a home - perhaps Jack's farm - and raising children and their new puppy, Pony, would be the best possible ending to the show.
The Sense of Unity
On the other hand, Virgin River isn't just about the two characters in question. On the contrary, the Netflix romantic drama features a plethora of lovable characters, some of which we've already mentioned. Add Brie, Preacher, and Muriel to the mix, and you've got a whole town waiting to see how their stories end.
As a result, many fans feel that a potential VR finale should convey this sense of solidarity within Virgin River's tight-knit community. For example, the final scene could take place at Jack's bar, with all the major characters present, celebrating something – like the completion of the town's rebuilding after the devastating wildfires of Season 5.
Frankly, we are on the fence here as both finale ideas sound exciting. Don't you think?
