Vince Gilligan Teases His Biggest Series Yet, Bigger Than Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan returns with Pluribus, a genre-bending sci-fi drama for Apple TV+ led by Better Call Saul alum Rhea Seehorn — a bold pivot that’s being billed as his biggest project yet.
Vince Gilligan is back, and he is not easing in. His next show is a sci-fi drama for Apple TV+ called Pluribus, and it sounds both huge and kind of delightfully weird. Also, Rhea Seehorn is front and center. Yes, please.
So what is it?
Pluribus follows Carol Sturka, played by Better Call Saul MVP Rhea Seehorn. Carol is billed as 'the most miserable person on Earth,' and somehow she ends up having to save the world from happiness. Not a typo. The plot is being kept mostly under wraps, but Gilligan is clearly swinging in a different direction than the crime sagas he is known for.
Gilligan on the scale
'I know, 10 years ago, I couldn't have made this show. Because this show is bigger than anything I've ever made before.'
'The scope of it is globetrotting, world-spanning.'
He says they shot across multiple countries, and that years of trial-and-error have made him and his team better at pulling off something this ambitious. In his words, this is the kind of production they would not have attempted, or succeeded at, five or ten years ago.
Cast and who's making it
Along with Seehorn, the ensemble includes Karolina Wydra and Carlos Manuel Vesga, with more to be announced. The series is co-produced by Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television for Apple TV+.
Release plan
- Episodes: 9
- Premiere: November 7, 2025 on Apple TV+ (global)
- Launch: First two episodes drop together
- Schedule: One episode weekly after that
- Finale: December 26, 2025
Gilligan going full-tilt sci-fi with a globe-trotting canvas, and Seehorn leading the charge as the world's grumpiest unlikely savior? That is a swing I want to see connect.
