Unseen Drama: The Selling Sunset Scandal That Stayed Off-Screen
Was Christine Quinn's pregnancy fake?
Selling Sunset landed its sixth season on Netflix on May 19, and fans are enjoying ten more episodes of the wild ride that is the life of the Oppenheim Group and its high-end real estate agents. While the reality show provides plenty of on-screen drama, some of the behind-the-scenes scandals surrounding Selling Sunset and its stars are proving to be even juicier.
Here is perhaps the hottest Selling Sunset drama that played out off-screen and may have been missed by some viewers.
Christine Quinn was the show's veteran agent and one of its breakout stars. With her legendary one-liners and exhilarating style, the original cast member stood out among her colleagues from day one, and many viewers were sad to see her leave the show after the Season 5 finale.
Nevertheless, Quinn has remained Selling Sunset's most drama-generating star to this day. She made a lot of enemies and said a lot of scandalous things during her time on the show, and the biggest off-screen drama is also tied to her, of course.
In 2019, after the first season of Selling Sunset aired, Quinn married tech entrepreneur Christian Dumontet. In 2020, she became pregnant and was shown carrying a child in Season 4. But after seeing her in the season, many viewers believed that Quinn was faking her pregnancy. The rumors became so overwhelming that the star had to respond to them.
'For all yall still mad on pregnancy gate please go look at my ig stories. And apologize. This is seriously so hurtful,' Quinn wrote on Twitter.
Her Instagram stories, which have since been deleted, had the following message: 'K y'all are beyond f***ing sick.' But that response didn't help. Despite Quinn officially announcing the birth of her son, Christian Georges Dumontet, in May 2021, the gossip didn't stop, and one of her co-stars only added fuel to the fire.
'She came in[to] the office and that was the only time I ever, ever saw her pregnant. But, I mean, she was [pregnant]. I can see why people would say [she wasn't] because she was so tiny just with this perfect little bump. And then she was right back to her normal size within, like, a day,' Mary Fitzgerald told Us Weekly.
As expected, Quinn took Fitzgerald's testimony in stride, responding to her in the comments of Us Weekly's Instagram post citing the interview.
'Imagine having to use made-up rumours about your cast members for clout because no one even cares about what goes on in your own life. #cantrelate,' Christine Quinn wrote, further driving a wedge between her and her colleague.
