Unpopular Opinion: Jamie's Actions in Yellowstone Are Totally Justified
The character is hated for no reason.
Paramount +'s smash hit Yellowstone may be coming to an end soon, but fans are still passionately discussing every little aspect of Taylor Sheridan's family drama, proving once again how important the show has become since it premiered in 2018. Yellowstone is often compared to Game of Thrones for the amount of intrigue and backstabbing that goes on among members of the Dutton family, but it looks like the series can't boast the same level of quality writing that the fantasy saga is known for.
In the first half of Season 5, John Dutton's adopted son Jamie became one of the most hated characters in the show's universe, as both John and his daughter Beth launched a veritable campaign to bring him down. But are their actions really necessary?
Poor character development
John and Beth decided to bring Jamie down for one reason - they felt his loyalty to the family wasn't strong enough, and they feared he might betray them all to secure his power in the future.
However, fans were quick to point out that John and Beth are the real reason why Jamie is not really loyal to the Duttons, as they have mistreated him for years, withholding praise for his accomplishments.
So, it's not really surprising that Jamie began to loathe his own family, especially after John began to fight for a small piece of land instead of caring about his children's future. John began to look like a total tyrant in recent seasons, and when Jamie confronted him about it, the patriarch turned him into a black sheep.
Justice for Jamie
While it's obvious that Jamie is no angel himself, John and Beth are far worse people than he ever was, and the fact that the writers make him out to be the bad guy really upset the Yellowstone fandom, who began to accuse the writers of ruining the show with their decision to start a feud between family members without any attention to detail.
Jamie has always been loyal to his father, while Beth was the one who left the farm because of the toxicity back in the day, which makes the idea of Jamie being singled out as the disloyal one seem rather ridiculous.
