Unexpected Crossover: Ahmed Best Unites Jar Jar Binks and Kelleran Beq in New Star Wars Comic

In the crossover no one saw coming, Jar Jar Binks is joining forces with Kelleran Beq, blending comic chaos with Jedi poise in a team-up set to jolt the galaxy far, far away.
File this under crossovers I absolutely did not have on my Star Wars bingo card: Ahmed Best is co-writing a comic that teams up his two characters, Jar Jar Binks and Kelleran Beq. Yes, really. And honestly? That pairing kind of rules.
So what is this thing?
Announced at New York Comic Con and confirmed by StarWars.com, Best is co-writing a one-shot comic with Marc Guggenheim that brings Jar Jar and Kelleran together for a shared adventure. Plot details are locked up for now, but the official tease keeps it simple:
"a team-up for the ages"
- Format: One-shot comic titled Jar Jar Binks #1
- Writers: Ahmed Best and Marc Guggenheim
- Announcement: Revealed at NYCC, with covers shown; a promo post hit social media on October 11, 2025
- Premise: Jar Jar Binks and Kelleran Beq team up for the first time
- Release: February 2026
Quick refresher: who is Kelleran Beq?
Beq started as a deep-cut addition to the galaxy in the kids game show Jedi Temple Challenge, where Ahmed Best played a Jedi Master guiding younglings through trials. The character blew up in a big way thanks to The Mandalorian season 3, where Beq is the Jedi who pulls off the rescue of Grogu during Order 66. It was a cool, full-circle moment for Best, who also originated Jar Jar back in The Phantom Menace.
Where this could land in the timeline
Canon-wise, we still don't know what happened to Kelleran after the prequels era. That mystery is a big part of why this comic is interesting. Whether this one-shot fills in those blanks or just throws him into a wild side quest with Naboo's most chaotic Gungan remains to be seen, but the setup is a clever way to connect two very different corners of the franchise.
The bigger Star Wars picture
On the screen side, next up is The Mandalorian & Grogu, the duo's first big-screen outing. No word if Kelleran Beq shows up there. Beyond that, Ahsoka season 2 is on the way; there's still no release date, but filming has wrapped. Sabine Wren actor Natasha Liu Bordizzo even shared a behind-the-scenes tease that sure looks like a substantial Star Wars Easter egg.
When can you read it?
Jar Jar Binks #1 lands in February 2026. Covers are out there from the NYCC reveal, and if the vibe of the announcement is any indication, this is meant to be a swing-for-the-fences kind of crossover. I'm in.
