It's time for Netflix to re-evaluate its decisions, as increasing numbers of fans are growing frustrated.

Despite its impressive array of original and acquired series, Netflix has been consistently disappointing its subscribers with regular cancellations of popular shows. Even the highest audience-rated one, Warrior Nun, couldn't escape this fate.

The series generated immense interest among viewers and became one of the most-watched shows on Netflix. However, for reasons unknown, the streaming platform decided to cancel it after a successful second season, infuriating numerous fans. But fear not, the show's creator has offered a glimmer of hope!

In an interview with Empire magazine, Warrior Nun creator Simon Barry expressed his gratitude for the warm response from fans and discussed the potential prospects for the show's revival. Although no details are available yet, it's clear that the creator has no intention of abandoning the series, so there is still a chance for a third season.

'It really dominates the landscape. It just crystalised how fortunate the show is to have this kind of fan engagement. I do know from [Productivity Media], the people who own the rights, that their intention is to find a way to keep going,' Barry said.

Regarding the first part of his statement, the creator thanked viewers for their dedication to the show's continuation. In December 2022, Simon Barry announced that Netflix had halted production of the show via Twitter:

In response, fans launched the #SaveWarriorNun campaign, demanding that production resume, and their petition had garnered over 120,000 signatures as of April 2023.

Based on the 1990s comic book Warrior Nun Areala, the show tells the story of a young girl named Ava Silva (Alba Baptista). A disabled orphan, Ava awakens in a morgue only to discover that she now possesses supernatural powers.

From there, her adventures begin as a member of the ancient Order of the Cruciform Sword, a Catholic military organisation that battles the forces of evil amidst the intrigues between Hell and Heaven.

It's always heartening to see a show's creators deeply committed to their own projects. And given the level of fan support, it is quite possible that this chapter will not be closed for good. The show's future remains uncertain, but with such a compelling storyline and high ratings, it would be a shame if another streaming service didn't acquire the rights.
