When will people learn that some things are better left at number one?

James Cameron's 1997 disaster-romance film, Titanic, followed the ill-fated love story of Jack and Rose, played by Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslett. The film, based on the true tragic story of the ship of the same name, was a massive success. Titanic earned itself 11 prestigious Oscars and made Box Office history, becoming the first movie ever to earn over $1 billion worldwide.

Looking at Titanic's accolades, it's no surprise that others wanted to get a piece of the action and ride the film's wave of success, needless to say, it did not end well. Titanic II was a sinking ship from the beginning, no pun intended.

James Cameron had no involvement in the 2010 film. The low-budget 'mockbuster' followed the story of another ill-fated pair of lovers aboard the Titanic II, 100 years after the original ship's journey. Unsurprisingly the movie with no plot of its own, also saw the ship crashing into an iceberg and sinking except with poor acting, bad graphics, and a low budget.

Audiences were more than happy to leave the embarrassing, unofficial sequel to rest at the bottom of the ocean, however, it turns out that Titanic II has an even worse sequel of its own.

Titanic 666, had a slightly more original plot, but that is likely the only good thing we have to say about it. The sequel's sequel also tells the story of an ill-fated ship journey, but this time, the supernatural element was thrown into the mix as passengers were terrorized by the spirits of the original Titanic.

Titanic 666 made its debut in 2022 and was swiftly slated by fans and critics, being named a 'disgrace' and 'in bad taste' in light of its plot, and release date 110 years on the anniversary of the Titanic sinking.

The original Titanic was produced with a $200 million budget, award-winning CGI and soundtrack, led by a phenomenal director and cast, and based on real and emotional events that went down in history. So much went into making Titanic the mega-success that it was, and other producers trying to claim their fame does not sit right.

Titanic II was bad enough, a cheap copy, but Titanic 666 sits on the line between absolutely laughable and genuinely offensive. Someone actually thought it was a good idea to make a sequel and then follow up that poorly received sequel with an even worse sequel, and all we can say is that they would not get a place on our lifeboat.
