Troll 2’s post-credits stinger points straight at Part 3. The sequel to the 2022 Norwegian monster hit landed on Netflix December 1, 2025, and instantly became the streamer’s most-watched movie worldwide — turbocharging speculation that another chapter is already looming.

Netflix dropped Troll 2 on December 1, 2025, and it immediately shot to the top of the streamer’s global movie chart. But the thing everyone keeps bringing up isn’t just the giant rock monsters. It’s that sneaky post-credits tag that sure looks like a setup for a Part 3.

Quick reset: how Troll 2 ends

Directed by Roar Uthaug, the sequel wraps with a full-on sacrifice: Andreas (Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen) dies so Beautiful — yes, that’s the kid’s name — the son of the Troll king, can finish off the Megatroll that’s tearing through Norway. After the dust settles, Nora (Ine Marie Wilmann) chooses a new life in the mountains with Beautiful. That feels like an ending. And then the credits roll... and keep rolling.

The stinger that kicks the door open

Post-credits, we cut to Professor Møller (Jon Ketil Johnsen), a researcher at Vemork, on the phone with a military general. He’s giddy, because he managed to keep a little piece of the chaos alive. His line is the giveaway:

"I have great news, General. The specimen I was able to save has developed. Well, it doesn’t look like much now, but just give it some time."

Then we see it: a small troll locked in a terrarium. Not exactly a long-term containment strategy, but sure.

What that could mean next

  • Møller’s tiny troll as a weapon: The professor clearly has the military’s ear. One theory is he’ll try to sell the troll as a defense asset in a third movie.
  • Small now, bigger later: The line about development sounds like a warning. The caged troll could grow into something worse than the Megatroll.

So, is Troll 3 actually happening?

Right now, there’s no official word and not much concrete info on a Part 3. Uthaug hasn’t confirmed anything, but he told Netflix he loves working in this world and sees a lot of room to expand the saga if they keep going. Translation: the appetite is there, the tease is obvious, but the green light hasn’t hit yet.

Bottom line: Troll 2 doesn’t just end its story, it plants a very loud seed. A live troll in a box plus a curious military contact is a sequel hook if I’ve ever seen one. Now it’s just a question of when (not if) Netflix wants to unleash it.
