Toya Turner Dropped From Chicago P.D.—No Sendoff, No Explanation

Chicago P.D. is losing another regular — and this time, it's without warning, setup, or even a line of dialogue to say goodbye.
Toya Turner, who joined the cast in Season 12 as Officer Kiana Cook, has been cut from the show ahead of Season 13's premiere this fall.
Turner was last seen in the Season 12 finale — suited up for the Burzek wedding — and there was no hint that her character wouldn't be returning. According to Deadline, Turner will not appear in the upcoming season. No exit storyline, no resolution, no announcement before the fact.
Turner confirmed her departure herself on Instagram, writing:
"My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I'm made of... To the cast and crew: thank you for the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day."
The reason for her departure hasn't been revealed. But after Chicago Fire cut multiple regulars earlier this year, fans were bracing for more changes across the One Chicago universe — and this looks like one of them.
Turner was a late addition to Chicago P.D. and had just started to make an impression with viewers. Her character had a layered backstory and some solid on-screen chemistry, especially in her early scenes with Atwater. Internally, she'd spoken about how welcomed she felt on set, including cast member LaRoyce Hawkins helping her pick out furniture when she first joined.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time Chicago P.D. has abruptly dropped a regular. Fans still remember Lisseth Chavez's exit as Officer Vanessa Rojas between Seasons 7 and 8 — a character who was never seen or mentioned again.
Whether Officer Cook gets a similar silent write-off remains to be seen. At best, the show might slip in a throwaway line like it did with Jon Seda's Antonio Dawson. At worst? Another name quietly erased.
Season 13 of Chicago P.D. premieres this fall on NBC, with streaming available on Peacock. Whether Cook gets a proper sendoff or just disappears, one thing's clear: fans are paying attention — and they remember when characters vanish without a trace.
