Top 5 Most Fan Hated Storylines on Frasier
Surprisingly, most of them have to do with one major character.
Although Frasier was a great source of joy and humor for many viewers, it had a number of annoying storylines that the show would have been better off without. Here are just five of the most hated storylines according to the show's viewers.
Roz' Meltdown Over Frasier and Julia
Over the course of Frasier's eleven-season run, the sitcom saw many of the title character's failed relationships, but few were as controversial as his affair with Julia Wilcox, portrayed by Felicity Huffman. This hate-to-love romance was fascinating to follow, but it provoked one of the ugliest storylines of the entire series – Roz's meltdown.
Dr. Crane's boss and best friend lost it when she found out he was sleeping with Julia, causing her to act out of character and become bitter and spiteful, which didn't look good on Roz.
Mel's Keeping Up Appearances
Niles' second ex-wife was a central character throughout Frasier's eighth season. Mel and Niles' relationship was messy, which may be why their marriage lasted only a week. But for some reason, Mel continued to pretend that everything was fine for several episodes, which was ridiculous to watch.
Roz and Roger's Breakup
Much like Frasier, Roz has been unlucky in her love life. Throughout the show, she had many relationships, none of which were successful. But there was one romance that had a lot of potential – Roz and Roger the garbageman. They hit it off like a house on fire, had a real connection, Roger was good with her daughter Alice, but Roz's embarrassment with his job eventually led to them breaking up. It was very sad to watch. Besides, Roz deserved to be happy, which is why the breakup storyline should not have happened.
Roz and Frasier's Affair
More importantly, Roz and Roger's breakup led to another fan-hated storyline – her and Frasier's one-night stand. While the sitcom exploited the tension between the best friends, and many fans wanted them to be together, the way their brief romance was handled was very disappointing.
Dr. Crane came to comfort Roz after the breakup, and they ended up having sex, which nearly ruined their friendship and didn't do Frasier any favors, as he looked like a total predator.
Frasier's On-Air Fling with Kate
In arguably the most unrealistic plotline of the entire show, Frasier and Kate Costas, his new station manager, had passionate sex during the late night show he was hosting. The act was accidentally broadcast to the audience, who were unable to recognize their beloved anchor as one of the lovers. However, neither Frasier nor Kate suffered any consequences, which is absurd since in the real world both would have been fired immediately.
