Either it's an eccentric method acting, or the Hollywood legend doesn't leave the house much.

Summary

  • The 78-year-old Blue Bloods star was recently spotted on the streets of Los Angeles
  • Tom Selleck's new style makes him completely unrecognizable
  • Even though Blue Bloods S14 may be the last, the actor has other projects lined up

Fans of Blue Bloods have been eagerly anticipating any announcements from CBS about the show's fourteenth and potentially final season following the end of the WGA strike. Of course, there's more to come as SAG-AFTRA members continue to push studios to agree to a contract that meets critical requirements.

Blue Bloods actors continue to live their lives as we ponder when AMPTP will de-escalate the situation. Television legend Tom Selleck, the 78-year-old who plays Commissioner Frank Reagan, has been seen around the San Fernando Valley in a completely unrecognizable getup. Is it a change of style, preparation for a new chapter in the Reagan family history, or simply the result of hard times without work?

A New Look For The Mustachioed Heartthrob

The star of Magnum, P.I. and Frank Reagan of Blue Bloods was caught by photographers on the streets of Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood, not far from his home, running errands and stopping by a McDonald's drive-thru.

Selleck has swapped his image of a handsome man with a neat mustache for one with a thick gray beard. Surprisingly, it doesn't age him; instead, it lends the crime drama star a certain noir charm. Fans loved the look and compared it to a young, bearded Selleck, as seen in the 1973 film Terminal Island.

Will Blue Bloods S14 Be The Last?

Production on Blue Bloods Season 14 is currently on hold until the actors' strike gets resolved, but filming will inevitably resume. For the new season to happen at all, the cast and crew have agreed to take pay cuts. It remains to be seen whether they will be willing to continue the story or decide to conclude it and move on.

Selleck's Next Career Moves

It's unlikely that Selleck's new beard hints at a significant plot twist in Blue Bloods: Frank retained his position of authority at the end of Season 13, and with filming about to begin, the actor will likely have to shave off his beard, leaving just his trademark mustache.

Regardless of whether Season 14 turns out to be the last, the Hollywood legend is sure to make further appearances on the small screen. His untitled Jesse Stone project, the tenth TV movie based on the Robert B. Parker detective novels, has been in development since 2017. He will likely concentrate on this new project once Blue Bloods wraps up.
