Tom Aspinall and UFC Stars Accuse Brock Lesnar of Steroid Use, Predict He’d Fail a Drug Test
Brock Lesnar roared back at Wrestlepalooza 2025 against John Cena looking more shredded than ever, a menacing encore to years of brutal feuds that has already reignited steroid speculation across the wrestling world.
Brock Lesnar showed up for Wrestlepalooza 2025 looking like, well, Brock Lesnar version 2.0. Bigger, meaner, somehow in even better shape. He returned to the ring against John Cena and immediately kicked up the old question: is this all clean, or is The Beast Incarnate getting outside help?
Why people are talking about it again
A recent video making the rounds put current UFC fighters in front of clips and photos from Lesnar's latest in-ring return. The vibe was not subtle. Most of them said that if Lesnar tried to go back to the UFC right now, he probably would not pass a drug test. That is one group's opinion, obviously, but it lit the fuse on a discussion that never really goes away with him.
So... has Brock Lesnar used steroids?
Lesnar has never publicly admitted to using steroids during his pro wrestling career. What we do have is an actual paper trail from his UFC stint and a few earlier headlines. The quick, clean version:
- January 2001: Lesnar was arrested after being found with what was reported at the time as a 'large amount of steroids.' Four months later, the case was dropped when the substances were determined to be human growth hormone. His lawyer memorably described the seized compounds as a 'vitamin-type of thing'.
- July 2016, UFC 200: Lesnar fought Mark Hunt and tested positive for clomiphene, an estrogen blocker commonly used in post-cycle therapy for anabolic steroids. He failed two USADA tests connected to that fight. The result was changed to a no-contest, the Nevada State Athletic Commission fined him $250,000, and he was suspended for one year. Sports Illustrated covered the disciplinary details at the time.
- WWE's Wellness Policy: This is where it gets messy. Lesnar is a part-time performer in WWE, and part-timers are exempt from the company's drug-testing policy. After his 2016 USADA failures, WWE told TMZ Sports that his part-time status meant no WWE suspension or fine. Cue backlash over the double standard, especially since full-time wrestlers have been sidelined for less. WWE has never listed Lesnar as a Wellness Policy violator.
- 2025: He returns at Wrestlepalooza against John Cena, looking like he's in the best shape we've seen from him in years, which naturally revives all of the above.
'vitamin-type of thing'
The 'look' factor people bring up
Fans and critics often point to how Lesnar's skin can look flushed and how much he sweats as a tell, noting that steroids can raise body temperature and blood pressure. That is an argument you hear a lot with him. It is also not proof. It is more like circumstantial fuel for a conversation that already runs hot.
Where this lands
Facts on the record: he failed two USADA tests in 2016 for clomiphene tied to UFC 200, the fight with Mark Hunt was ruled a no-contest, and the Nevada commission fined and suspended him. WWE did not punish him under their Wellness Policy because he is exempt as a part-timer, which drew plenty of heat.
Everything else is speculation. Lesnar has never admitted to steroid use in his wrestling career, and nobody is publishing test results from Wrestlepalooza. For now, all we can say is he looks terrifyingly ready to go, same as ever, and the debate is not going anywhere anytime soon.
