It is all about Diana Gabaldon's book series.

'Unpopular opinion maybe, but feels like a very different Outlander this season,' a fan wrote on Twitter. 'Maybe because there's a lot less of Jamie and Claire's love being the focal point.'

If you are one of those people who watch Outlander mainly for Jamie and Claire, you will agree with the fan. The first part of Season 7, which ended on August 11, felt lacking in those heartwarming scenes and sweet little moments between the Frasers that viewers had become accustomed to in previous seasons. This was not because the characters lost their chemistry, but because they had less screen time.

While the previous chapters were largely centered around Jamie and Claire and their love story, Season 7 shifted the focus to other characters, following Bree and Roger to the 1980s, introducing a new cast, and showing more subplots that didn't involve the main couple. Fans of the Starz show were quite vocal about the story's changing dynamics on social media.

Well, the creators of Outlander have heard the criticism and are ready to address it. Executive producer Maril Davis told RadioTimes.com that the complaint came as a surprise to her because Season 7 was a very faithful adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's An Echo in the Bone.

'Jamie and Claire are always going to be our center of the wheel, but there are quite a few characters to service and Diana has done a great job of doing that throughout this book series, and building characters you want to follow,' Davis said. 'So, it's impossible to tell Jamie and Claire's story without telling these other stories.'

Davis added that the storylines involving William and Bree and their children are especially important to Jamie and Claire's arcs because they show the legacy the Frasers have built over the past few seasons.

'Jamie and Claire are the start of that, but they've woven these other stories around them, and it's impossible to tell theirs if you don't tell everyone else's,' the producer explained.

Many fans echoed Davis' words, noting that Gabaldon's Book 7 is actually one of the best in the series thanks to its faster pacing and switching between different intertwined storylines. Also, the book cycle does feature more Jamie and Claire scenes as it progresses, so keep your hopes up, Heughan's Heughligans.
