This Subtle Feature Can Make Bridgerton Season 3 Painful to Watch
It will certainly catch your eye.
Summary
- Despite the anticipation, Bridgerton fans may find Season 3 quite unsettling.
- Some of the characters look very different in the third season.
- While one of them has a logical explanation for the change in appearance, the other's new look haunts viewers.
We're just two months away from the premiere of Season 3 of Bridgerton, and fans couldn't be more excited. The highly anticipated third installment of the hit Netflix series has been in the works since 2022, and even the spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, hasn't satisfied viewers' cravings for more of the beloved series.
Focusing on Colin Bridgerton, the third child of the titular family, Season 3 differs from the first two installments of the fan-favorite period drama in that it doesn't follow the narrative order of the Julia Quinn novels on which the show is based. Either way, viewers are excited about the upcoming season. But it seems that there is one problem that could ruin the whole experience of watching Season 3.
A Different Look
Aside from the promo event that took place in February, promotional material for Season 3 of Bridgerton has been scarce. The official trailer and sneak peek released by Netflix focus on Colin and Penelope, without delving into the arcs of the other characters. Fortunately, a few photos have also been released, providing a more substantial look at the third installment.
While the images have proven useful, they've also drawn attention to a peculiar problem. All of the characters in Season 3 seem to be overly made up compared to the previous installments. This is especially true for Francesca and Hyacinth, the youngest Bridgerton sisters.
In the promo picture of Violet, Fran, and Hyacinth, the latter two look like two porcelain dolls with brightly colored lips, rouged cheeks, mascaraed eyelashes, and so on. In the couch scene in Season 1, however, the two sisters don't look nearly as made-up.
A Different Time
Of course, it's important to note that Francesca and Hyacinth have grown up since Season 1. Fran comes of age this season, and the youngest Bridgerton sibling is now twelve. Also, since Frannie is making her social debut in Season 3, her new look is quite understandable. But why is Hyacinth wearing so much makeup?
'Hyacinth is a kid. Why is her face lathered in so much makeup? It's an odd vibe,' one Reddit user observed.
Needless to say, this new look is unsettling. Most importantly, it raises too many questions.
'Girls wearing more makeup chilling at home in the 1800s than I do as a modern day mid thirties woman,' another Redditor chimed in.
Maybe this is a stretch, and the new makeup style in Bridgerton won't be much of a hindrance to enjoying the third season. But it's definitely too loud and distracting not to notice.
Bridgerton Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on May 16.
