These 5 Netflix Horror Movies Are a Must-Watch for Any Stranger Things Cast Fan
Miss the Hawkins gang? Here are the projects for you.
It looks like Stranger Things has been a perfect genre school for its cast. The Hawkins kids can play all shades of frightened, scared, and terrified. And their skills have come in handy for Netflix.
While the release of Stranger Things Season 5 has been delayed indefinitely due to the WGA strike, you can meet the beloved cast in a number of other horror genre Netflix projects.
Fear Street (Maya Hawke and Sadie Sink)
The Fear Street franchise features not one, but two Stranger Things actors. The three slasher films, which dropped on Netflix within days of each other in the summer of 2021, deal with themes of witchcraft and curses affecting the same town in three time periods: 1994, 1978, and 1666.
The character of Maya Hawke, who plays Robin Buckley in Stranger Things, is a classic victim of a brutal killer, while Sadie Sink, who portrays fan-favorite Max Mayfield, stars as the protagonist who must face evil at a 1970s summer camp.
Eli (Sadie Sink)
Sink also plays Haley, a child patient at a medical facility in the 2019 horror film Eli. Her character befriends the protagonist, who suffers from a very rare disease that prevents him from ever going outside, and warns him of the dangers of treatment at the facility. Fans of Stranger Things will find Haley as entertaining as Max.
Hubie Halloween (Noah Schnapp)
The role of a small-town teen in Hubie Halloween went to Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers. Unlike Stranger Things, Adam Sandler's 2020 film dips more into the horror-comedy genre, telling the story of a dimwitted protagonist who saves his town on Halloween. Even if the movie doesn't give you any real scares, it has that incomparable Halloween vibe that's so enjoyable to dive into.
The Curse of Bridge Hallow (Priah Ferguson)
Priah Ferguson's Erica Sinclair is one of the funniest characters on Stranger Things. The young actress shows off her comedic side in 2022's The Curse of Bridge Hallow. Ferguson's character accidentally brings Halloween decorations to life, leaving her and her father (Marlon Wayans) to deal with all kinds of chaos. Although the film has received mixed reviews, it is a fun watch.
Velvet Buzzsaw (Natalia Dyer)
The actress, who plays the ultimate older sister figure, Nancy Wheeler, took part in Velvet Buzzsaw, a 2019 black comedy that satirizes the exploitative side of the art world. A group of greedy art professionals are brutally murdered one by one by a supernatural force that haunts the paintings of a dead artist.
Dyer's character Coco is very different from Nancy, as she serves more as comedic relief in the film. Coco is an assistant who is frustrated that her new bosses keep dying mysteriously.
