Then and Now: See the Cast of Home Alone 30 Years Later
Some of the stars are no longer with us.
Macaulay Culkin
The role of Kevin Macallister forever defined the career of 10-year-old Macaulay Culkin. After the film was released, he became a worldwide star. The biggest studios in the world fought for the opportunity to cast him in their projects. That's probably why the actor quickly got bored with fame and popularity.
After a nervous breakdown Macaulay's life almost went downhill, but in the end he was able to sort everything out and gradually return to the screen. He recently starred in another chapter of American Horror Story.
He got the role of the burglar Harry, who at first just wanted to break into the McCallister home to steal valuables, but then became obsessed with revenge on the boy who left him without hair and teeth. Of course, by the time the comedy was filmed, Joe was already quite a famous actor. In the late 1990s, Pesci took a break from his career and returned to the big screen only in 2006. After that, the actor disappeared again to star in The Irishman in 2019.
Daniel Stern
Harry's simple-minded sidekick, who regularly falls into the traps of a 10-year-old boy, was portrayed by Daniel Stern. He did not become famous after Home Alone, but he started receiving offers for interesting roles on a regular basis. His filmography includes many TV series with one of the latest being the show about body-positivity, Shrill. By the way, Stern has a rather interesting hobby — in his spare time, he also works as an artist, specializing in bronze sculpture.
Catherine O'Hara
In the 1990s, she was the embodiment of a forgetful mother. Interestingly, this image did not haunt Catherine at all. She continued to act in films, starred in the drama The Last of the High Kings, and in 2015 she joined the cast of the series Schitt's Creek, which won a number of prestigious awards.
John Heard
At the time of filming, John was already an accomplished actor and managed to star in many films directed by famous Hollywood directors. Perhaps that is why Heard was able to perfectly portray the role of the forgetful and absent-minded father of the family, who almost missed the flight. John Heard's filmography includes more than 180 films and TV series. It could have been more, but John died in 2017 at the age of 72.
Kieran Culkin
Kieran is the younger brother of Macaulay Culkin, and played the role of his cousin in the movies. His career has also been a roller coaster. Culkin had his highs with projects like Succession, Fargo, The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns and also many lows. For example, the actor was criticized for his work in Movie 43. In 2021, Kieran starred in the crime drama No Sudden Move with such famous actors as Benicio Del Toro and Brendan Fraser being his co-stars. However, film critics were not very happy about the movie.
