The fantasy show nearly ruined the actress' health.

Netflix's The Witcher may be one of the most popular fantasy shows on the air right now, but the project's quality makes a lot of people wonder why viewers continue to watch the series at all. For the first three seasons, Henry Cavill's performance as Geralt was the only saving grace of The Witcher, while subpar writing quality, questionable storytelling, and half-baked performances from the supporting cast made the show a real drag to watch.

And with Cavill's departure ahead of the upcoming Season 4, it looks like the project could lose a hefty chunk of its fan base. But with that said, the rest of the cast are still taking their job pretty seriously, even if the amount of backlash they're receiving for the recently released Season 3 might have forced them to not even try to shoot The Witcher properly.

While Season 3 proved to be a complete failure in the eyes of the fans, the actors actually tried their hardest to make their characters seem as real as possible, and Anya Chalotra's Yennefer is the most striking example of that.

Dedication to the craft

At the beginning of Season 3, Yen and Geralt are shown lying in the snowy landscape full of glacial lakes and ice-covered mountains, and it was pretty clear that these scenes were shot on location without the help of green screen. And as the Yennefer actress recently revealed in an interview, filming the scenes in such a hostile Slovenian environment was pretty hard for her, and it almost damaged her health.

'It was very cold, and on the second day of shooting, I remember bawling my eyes out because I couldn't feel my feet, so that was when my journey began this season,' Anya Chalotra said.

Despite this rough start to the production, the actress stuck with it and refused to quit. And even though viewers disliked the third chapter as a whole, Chalotra's dedication to at least trying to make the third season watchable should be commended.

Let's hope Netflix's producers don't force her to go through the same ordeal again in Season 4.

Do you think Chalotra's struggles were worth it?
