2. Paperman, 2012

20th century, New York. A young office worker meets a girl on a train platform and falls in love. Sitting at his desk, the man notices the stranger in a nearby skyscraper.

He tries to call her, but fails. Then the man turns to unusual methods: he collects all the paper from the table and bombards the building with airplanes. But the supply of A4 paper is gradually exhausted.

The emotions of watching this sensual animation are enhanced by an unusual story. Paperman proves a simple truth: feelings are magic and a person cannot subjugate them.

3. Splitscreen: A Love Story, 2011

The movie lasts only a few minutes, and two seemingly unrelated stories unfold in parallel on the screen. A man and a woman from different countries wake up, go to the subway, get on a plane and fly somewhere.

The frame is always glued together from two different scenes, but the director keeps finding ways to make the split screen into a single image: the characters read newspapers, ride public transportation, and drink coffee with milk at the same time.

This unusual technique is not only necessary to surprise the audience. The split image helps to better understand the phenomenon of love. Let the characters start the day from different points of the world, but their daily lives and lives are quite similar.

4. God of Love, 2010

Ray, a struggling musician, suddenly becomes the god of love. He gets his hands on darts that can bring a variety of people together. But there's a problem: the guy himself has a lot of personal problems.

Luke Matheny's ironic comedy about the paradoxes of love won an Oscar for best short film – and for good reason. The sad truth of the movie is that the magic weapon in the main character's hands solves almost nothing. Love cannot be directed in the right direction: it will always find its way in.

5. The Wishgranter, 2016

There is a fountain in town. If you drop a coin in it and make a wish, it will definitely come true. This is because a small creature sits under the water and processes other people's dreams day and night.
