Despite her flaws, she deserves some happiness.

Summary

  • Cressida Cowper has been the most hated character on Bridgerton since Season 1.
  • She is expected to be in the middle of the Polin arc in the third installment.
  • The best way to deal with Cressida is to give her what she wants.

Since Bridgerton revolves around the titular family, it's obvious that any character who somehow gets in their way will annoy the audience. For example, Portia Featherington, who is jealous of the Bridgertons' social and economic status, is often portrayed as an extremely unpleasant woman. Even the Queen, despite her generally favorable opinion of the family, is portrayed as a villain when she confronts and threatens Eloise for being Lady Whistledown. However, it's Cressida Cowper who holds the title of most annoying character on the Netflix drama.

Since her first appearance in Season 1, Cressida has been portrayed as a terrible human being. Desperate to find a rich and noble husband, she was willing to go to any lengths to get what she wanted, including spreading nasty and untrue rumors about her rivals. In Season 2, however, Cressida got her comeuppance. And now viewers are wondering what will become of her in the third installment.

Further Intrigues

Since Cressida's main goal is to find a rich and powerful husband, which she still hasn't achieved after two seasons on the marriage market, it's safe to assume that she'll continue her quest. Perhaps Cressida could try to win over Colin, with whom she danced last season before falling victim to Jack Featherington's ruby mine scheme. This would put her in direct conflict with Penelope, whom Cressida is expected to blackmail for money because Pen is Lady Whistledown.

Nevertheless, Cressida will never have Colin. But there is one suitor who would be perfect for her.

Birds of Feather Flock Together

The disgraced Baron Berbrooke, who aggressively and insultingly courted Daphne in Season 1 and was fended off with the help of Lady Whistledown, who leaked the information about his sent-away illegitimate child, is arguably the perfect match for Cressida. First of all, he has everything she wants in a man. He's rich and titled. Second, shallow as he is, he would love Cressida for her looks and put up with her terrible personality.

Most importantly, Cressida and Nigel have a lot in common. They are both vain and shameless. So it seems that they deserve each other.

Do you think Cressida and Nigel would be a good match?

Perhaps marriage to Nigel Berbrooke could help Cressida see how horrible she is to all the people around her, which would lead to some character growth on her part, making her a better person.

Of course, this would be too harsh a punishment even for Cressida, so perhaps she and Nigel could have a child together, which would secure her future as Baroness Berbrooke, and Baron Berbrooke could pass away, leaving her to live a life of freedom and privilege.

Guess we'll see what happens to Cressida in Season 3 when it premieres on May 16.
