The White Lotus Season 4 Release Date Just Got Worse — Here’s How Long You’ll Wait
During his Survivor 50 return, creator Mike White signaled The White Lotus Season 4 is slipping, meaning fans face a longer-than-expected wait for the acclaimed HBO series.
If you were hoping to check back into The White Lotus soon, adjust the travel plans. Mike White just popped back up on Survivor for its big 50th season and slipped in an update on Season 4 that reads like: settle in.
Where The White Lotus stands
White says he has not started writing Season 4. In fact, he is only planning to start scouting locations after Survivor 50 wraps.
"No, so after we play the game, I'm gonna start scouting for Season 4, so I don't even know where it's shooting."
Translation: the new season of the acclaimed HBO series is still early days. Which makes the current chatter a bit amusing, because there has also been reporting that production will shoot at Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez, France. File that under: interesting tension between what the creator is saying and what the rumor mill insists is happening.

Why Mike White is back on a beach (again)
White joined Survivor 50 because the dates finally lined up. He put it this way:
"Weirdly, if it had happened in any other time in the last five years, I just would not have been available. But when they told me the dates, I was like, 'I could actually do that.'"
He still loves the show he created and plans to return to it refreshed, but for now he wanted to think about something else for a minute. Survivor 50 felt like a can’t-miss invite, and he took it. He also kept work and gameplay separate:
"I want a vacation, I want a break from White Lotus, I don't wanna talk about White Lotus. I don't wanna think about White Lotus."
If you remember, White previously finished as runner-up on Survivor: David vs. Goliath. This time around, he knows he is more recognizable and figures that might even be a disadvantage with a few White Lotus skeptics eyeing him across the sand.
So when do we actually get Season 4?
With writing yet to start and location scouting set to begin only after Survivor 50 concludes, Season 4 remains firmly in development. In other words: expect a longer wait than you hoped, even with that very chic Saint-Tropez buzz floating around.
