The White Lotus Season 4 Levels Up With Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka
The White Lotus just upgraded its guest list: Vikings star Alexander Ludwig and The Goldbergs alum AJ Michalka are joining HBO’s season 4 getaway as the ensemble begins to take shape.
White Lotus season 4 is finally starting to take shape. Casting is underway, the destination is set, and yes, the secrecy remains strong. Here is where things stand right now.
Two new arrivals check in
HBO says Alexander Ludwig (Vikings) and AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs) have joined the cast. Who are they playing? That part is locked down for now. In true White Lotus fashion, character details and plot specifics are being kept out of sight.
Also circling: Helena Bonham Carter. She was in early talks last week to join the season, but there is no deal yet. Consider that one in the maybe column.
New season, new guests, same one-week pressure cooker
HBO has confirmed the format stays the same: a fresh set of guests will descend on a White Lotus hotel, and we will watch their week unravel in slow, expensive-motion. If you have seen the previous three seasons, you know the drill.
Pack a bag for France (but where in France?)
This time the anthology heads to France, though the exact spot is still TBD. The show has basically lived at Four Seasons properties to stand in as White Lotus hotels, with occasional help from other places, and there are a few French contenders that fit the vibe:
- Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera
- Four Seasons Hotel Megève in the French Alps
- Hotel George V in Paris
Any of these would shake up the visual palette. The first three seasons leaned beachy; moving to the Riviera, the Alps, or central Paris would be a different kind of playground for bad decisions.
"For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there's always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels," creator Mike White teased earlier this year.
Quick temperature check on last season
If you are wondering whether the series still has juice: it does. JoBlo's Alex Maidy called season three the best yet, noting it traded some of the first season's big laughs for darker, twistier drama and sustained, jaw-dropping tension. In other words, the show leveled up without losing its bite.
Bottom line: casting is heating up, France is the target, and the show's formula remains intact. Expect more names soon—and start your mental travel planning accordingly.
