The White Lotus season 4 enters its final stretch at the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes
Six months into the shoot, HBO's series has turned the Martinez into the White Lotus Cannes, with a new art deco logo and a Deadline cast list that names one actor twice.
The White Lotus season 4 is in the final stretch of a long shoot, and it has ended up where its story is set: the Hôtel Martinez on the Croisette in Cannes. Deadline reports the production has camped out at the hotel six months after filming began on the French Riviera and five months after the show shot scenes during the Cannes Film Festival itself.
It is the first season tied to a real-world event. It is also the first to leave the hotel company that hosted every season before it.
A new country, a new hotel chain
According to Wikipedia, every previous season of The White Lotus was hosted by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Season 4 films primarily at two Riviera properties instead:
- White Lotus Cannes: the Hôtel Martinez, part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection.
- White Lotus du Cap: the Airelles Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez.
"Independent" is how Wikipedia describes the two properties, in contrast with the Four Seasons chain. In the same article it identifies the Martinez, via the travel outlet Skift, as part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection. The show left one global hotel group and moved into a property affiliated with another.
Deadline first reported the two hotels in April. The story also reaches Monaco, with additional scenes shot in Paris, though HBO has said it remains centred on the Riviera. After Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, this is the show's first season in France, confirmed by HBO in November 2025. Production began in April 2026.
What the Martinez looks like now
The hotel has been transformed. Set pieces and props are still on display in the lobby, and the White Lotus logo appears everywhere, from furniture to windows and carpets. Sets are blocked off with a sign: "This is a fragile movie set, please do not touch or move any set elements." Behind it, Deadline found golden palm trees, a sofa, two blue armchairs and a blue painting of a man; White Lotus caps, towels, bags and scarves are scattered around the lobby.
The logo itself has changed more than usual. The new one matches the Martinez's art deco style, with a font modelled on the hotel's own marquee, and drops the ornate flowers of earlier seasons. Earlier seasons only tweaked the design as the show moved between locations, and each season's logo was quietly revealed in its start-of-production slate photo, this one included.
A doorman told Deadline the show will "surely get us more customers" once it premieres next year. Mike White was reportedly shooting at Palm Beach this week, ahead of a rumoured weeklong shoot at the Martinez.
The cast list, counted twice
Deadline's cast list runs to 16 names: Laura Dern, Steve Coogan, Vincent Cassel, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Ben Kingsley, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Kumail Nanjiani and Max Greenfield.
Nanjiani appears twice, so the list is 15 people. And it is not the full cast. Wikipedia's ensemble also includes Heather Graham, Rosie Perez, Sandra Bernhard, Max Minghella, Pekka Strang, Chloe Bennet, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet, none of whom appear in Deadline's list.
How season 4 started
- Renewal: January 22, 2025, before season 3 had even premiered.
- The pitch: White proposed the fourth outing over dinner in Phuket, during production of season 3, to HBO chief Casey Bloys and drama executive Francesca Orsi.
- The setting: the Cannes Film Festival, whose celebrity, publicity and deal-making are meant to feed the season's satire.
- Locations: Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Monaco on the Côte d'Azur, plus scenes shot in Paris.
- The format: as before, a new group of guests and employees over the course of a week.
- Credits: written and directed by White, executive produced by White, David Bernad and Mark Kamine.
The festival setting is a first for a show built on fictional resorts. A season about an industry gathering was shot in part during the real one, with the cameras of a hit HBO series operating among the festival's own.
What is still unknown
- The premiere date. Only "next year" so far.
- The number of episodes.
- Who plays whom. HBO has released only a limited synopsis, and most roles are undisclosed.
- The Saint-Tropez half. Deadline's report covers Cannes; the White Lotus du Cap set has not been shown in the same detail.
- When filming wraps. Deadline describes the shoot as lengthy and in its final stretch, without an end date.
The White Lotus spent three seasons inside Four Seasons resorts. For its fourth, it built its own hotel inside a real one, down to a new logo in the Martinez's own font.
