The Voice's Future Is Unclear—Will It Return for Season 29?

After 27 seasons, countless chair spins, and a rotating lineup of celebrity coaches trying to look emotionally invested in a 17-year-old belting Adele, The Voice is still technically alive. Season 28 is confirmed and coming this fall, but Season 29? That's where things get fuzzy.
NBC hasn't officially renewed the show for Season 29. No press release, no social post, no hollow promises from an executive about "celebrating musical journeys." Just… silence.
But here's the weird part: tickets are already available for Season 29 Blind Audition tapings.
- Tapings are scheduled for July 21, 22, and 23 in California.
- Season 28 tapings are set for July 7–10 on the same site.
So either NBC forgot to cancel the show and someone just left the lights on, or they're playing coy while still booking warm bodies to cheer for singers no one's heard of yet.
If the release pattern holds, Season 29 would likely premiere in February 2026, right after Season 28 finishes its fall 2025 run. That would keep The Voice chugging along with its usual two-seasons-per-year pace—unlike American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, which finally admitted they didn't need to run themselves into the ground annually.
Meanwhile, the coaching panel keeps spinning faster than the chairs. For Season 28, we'll get Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé.
All of them have done time in the red chairs before, but this will be their first go as a full panel. That means plenty of cross-genre chemistry and at least one forced rap-country duet.
As for Season 29's coaches? No clue. And frankly, with the way things have been going, there's a non-zero chance it ends up being Blake Shelton's dog, a TikTok influencer, and a cardboard cutout of Adam Levine.
So—will The Voice return for Season 29? Probably. But NBC won't say it out loud just yet, and the show's future seems to be operating on autopilot until someone notices. If you want to be in the room where the fake tears and pitchy runs happen, you can still grab a seat for the auditions. Just don't expect anyone at the network to confirm you're watching Season 29 until months after you've already clapped.
