School Spirits fans are dying to know whether Paramount+ is pulling the plug or greenlighting Season 4 of the afterlife whodunit. As Maddie keeps sleuthing from beyond, here’s where the show’s future stands.

School Spirits just wrapped Season 3, and a lot of you are asking the same thing: are we getting a fourth season or is this the end of the line?

Where things stand right now

Paramount+ has yet to announce a decision on Season 4. The show is in a good spot performance-wise: on February 20, it hit No. 2 on the U.S. Top 10 for Amazon Channels. That kind of early pop usually helps. What will matter just as much is how many viewers finished the new season and whether the audience held steady through the finale.

There is a pattern worth noting. Last time, the streamer confirmed Season 3 two weeks after the Season 2 finale. If they follow that playbook again, we should know in the coming weeks. The release cadence has also been steady, with the last two seasons arriving a year apart, so a 2025 drop is a fair guess if Season 4 gets the green light.

What the show is setting up

Created by Megan and Nate Trinrud, School Spirits is a supernatural teen drama about Maddie, a girl investigating her own disappearance from the afterlife. With no way back, she settles into this in-between space, teams up with other spirits, and starts solving crimes. The deeper she digs, the more she turns up — some of it comforting, some of it messy.

As for where it could go next, creator Megan Trinrud has her eye on Maddie and Wally. She teased that their future is complicated and not necessarily neat:

It’s going to be interesting to see what the challenges are that they would have to overcome, if they can overcome them, or if it is a thing where sometimes you don’t get to say a proper goodbye and say, 'This is it. It was beautiful, and I love you, but it’s over.'

What will decide Season 4

  • Whether viewers finish the season (completion rate), not just sample it
  • Overall viewership and consistency through the finale
  • Audience response and ratings momentum
  • Budget versus performance — the show’s financial picture
  • The recent ranking bump (No. 2 on Amazon Channels in the U.S. on Feb 20) as a positive signal

Bottom line: no renewal yet, no cancellation either. The numbers look encouraging, the timing lines up for a quick decision, and there’s clearly more story on the board. I’ll update as soon as Paramount+ calls it.
