The Verdict Is In: Netflix Just Fast-Tracked Season 5 of Its Hit Legal Drama
Netflix isn’t waiting for the verdict: The Lincoln Lawyer is renewed for Season 5 before Season 4 even drops, a bold vote of confidence as the series readies its most intense case yet.
Netflix just made a very loud show of faith in The Lincoln Lawyer: Season 5 is officially happening before anyone has even seen Season 4. Bold move, but honestly, not shocking given how reliably this series hits.
What you need to know
- Netflix and A+E Studios have renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for Season 5, and it is another 10-episode order.
- The timing is early on purpose: the pickup lands just weeks ahead of the Season 4 premiere on February 5.
- Season 5 will pull from Michael Connelly’s seventh Mickey Haller book, Resurrection Walk.
- Season 4 adapts the sixth book, The Law of Innocence, and puts Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) in the worst spot of his career: he is defending himself in a murder trial.
- Constance Zimmer returns as prosecutor Dana Berg, who is leading the case against him.
- New faces in Season 4 include Emmanuelle Chriqui and Cobie Smulders, among others.
- If you forgot where we left off: Season 3 ended with Mickey getting arrested after a former client’s body turned up in the trunk of his car. So yeah, he has problems.
Co-showrunners and executive producers Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez told Netflix’s Tudum they are already deep into the next chapter and, yes, they know Season 4 is going to put Mickey through the wringer. Their words, not mine:
"We’re so excited to share the upcoming fourth season with the audience on February 5th and even more excited to share the news that we’re already hard at work on the next one. Season 4 is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet, and we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to continue the ride in Season 5."
Translation: Season 4 is designed to be the show’s toughest case yet, and Netflix likes what it sees enough to keep the engine running straight into Season 5. If you were holding off on getting invested until you knew the story would keep going, you’ve got the green light.
