The Only One Piece Filler Guide You Need: Every Episode to Watch or Skip
One Piece has blasted past 1,150 episodes with no slowdown in sight, but you don’t need to watch them all. With only about 9–10 percent filler—far leaner than Boruto—this guide maps the episodes you can skip to sail straight to the good stuff.
One Piece is enormous. We are 1,150+ episodes in and still sailing. The good news: only about 9-10% of that is filler, which is merciful compared to Boruto. The bad news: that’s still a lot of detours if you’re trying to binge without fluff. Here’s the clean, up-to-date breakdown with everything you can safely skip, plus the filler that’s actually fun.
Quick context
One Piece has 16 anime-only arcs (they don’t exist in the manga): Caesar Retrieval, Cidre Guild, Foxy’s Return, G-8, Goat Island, Ice Hunter, Little East Blue, Marine Rookie, Ocean’s Dream, Post-Arabasta (sometimes labeled Post-Alabasta), Ruluka Island, Silver Mine, Spa Island, Uta’s Past, Warship Island, and Z’s Ambition. A few of these are simple side stories, a few are movie tie-ins, and one or two are weird deep cuts you would not expect (looking at you, Romance Dawn).

If you only cherry-pick the good stuff
G-8 (196-206) is one of the funniest filler runs in the series. Ice Hunter (326-336) brings surprisingly strong action and character beats. Episode 499, Luffy’s Past, is a flashback that digs into Ace, Sabo, and Luffy. Z’s Ambition (575-578) is a prelude to One Piece Film Z. Caesar Retrieval (626-628) is exactly what it says on the box: the crew trying to snatch Caesar Clown back from an enemy. Marine Rookie (780-782) is a light palate cleanser right before Whole Cake Island. And Uta’s Past (1029-1030) ties directly into One Piece Film: Red and is basically required if you care about that movie’s backstory.
Bottom line: yes, One Piece has filler, but it’s a manageable slice of the pie. If you want the bare essentials, the list above will keep you on course. If you want some bonus laughs and extra world-building, the highlighted arcs deliver.
