The Night Manager Season 2 Revealed: Release Window, Plot Teases and Which Stars Return
Tom Hiddleston is back on the clock: nearly a decade after The Night Manager gripped viewers, BBC One’s spy thriller is racing back with Season 2—reviving fan favorites, introducing fresh faces, and teasing the comeback with sleek first-look images from Amazon Prime Video.
The Night Manager is finally back on the board. Nearly a decade after Jonathan Pine slipped out of our lives, Tom Hiddleston is suiting up again for Season 2 — new name, new mission, and a lot of Colombia. First-look images are out, the trailer is not, and the release window is set for late 2025. Here is the lay of the land.
When and where you can watch
There is no exact date yet, but Season 2 is expected to premiere in late 2025. Like the first run, it is six episodes. In the US, it will stream on Prime Video. In the UK, it will air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer. Amazon Prime Video also dropped a batch of first-look photos to tide everyone over while we wait for the trailer.
So, what is Pine up to now?
Hiddleston returns as Jonathan Pine, only he is living under a new identity: Alex Goodwin. On paper, he is a low-level MI6 officer in a quiet London surveillance unit — the kind of job where nothing interesting is supposed to happen. Naturally, that does not last. A chance run-in with a mercenary from the old Roper days pulls him into the orbit of Colombian tycoon Teddy Dos Santos. To get close, Pine teams with businesswoman Roxana Bolanos, who becomes his way inside Dos Santos operations.
Where they shot it (and why that matters)
Season 2 filmed across the UK, Spain, France, and Colombia, with Colombia doing the heavy lifting as the main setting. This is not just window dressing — the production is leaning hard into it.
"More than 75% of the story is about Colombia."

Cast and crew snapshot
Hiddleston is the returning headliner. Season 1 stars Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander, and Elizabeth Debicki are not expected back this time. The series is based on John le Carre's 1993 novel and was adapted for TV by David Farr. Georgi Banks-Davies is directing Season 2. The BBC/Prime Video co-production comes from The Ink Factory, which helped launch the original breakout run. In April 2024, the show was renewed for two more seasons, so this is not a one-and-done comeback.
