Considering that the last season of Bridgerton came out in 2022, fans of the show are understandably hungry for updates on their favorite romance drama. While 2023's Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story spinoff satisfied the demand for a while, it wasn't nearly enough. Needless to say, now that Season 3 is on its way, the audience is even more excited.

For this reason, the recent Valentine's Day promotional event by Shondaland and Netflix, who create and distribute Bridgerton, was huge for the fandom. From the opportunity to hear from Season 3 stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, to asking questions of Bridgerton's showrunners and the author of the book series of the same name, Julian Quinn, there were many exciting things about the event. But most importantly, it offered a deeper look at the upcoming episode. And here's the main takeaway from the promo.

Penelope and Eloise's Arc Development

Although Bridgerton is beloved by viewers for its portrayal of romance, whether it be Daphne and Simon's passionate affair or Anthony and Kate's electrifying love story, the show also offers up a fair amount of bonds of friendship. In that sense, the friendship between Eloise Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington is arguably the most interesting relationship.

In Season 2, however, the two characters had a major falling out when it was revealed that Penelope was actually Lady Whistledown. And it seems that Season 3 will continue to explore Penelope and Eloise's relationship.

'They didn't make up off camera. That would be amazing. I think the level of the betrayal, I suppose, is quite large, so I don't think it's going to be made up quickly,' said Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise, during yesterday's promo event.

'However, it's probably quite good that they're so young. I always try to remind myself of how young they are. And Eloise comes from a really comfortable place, a really comfortable background, a very nurturing environment. And this is a big blow, the first [one in her life]. Especially friendship at that age is so huge. So, there's still a lot [to get over].'

The Second Most Important Character Arc of the Season

Ultimately, Season 3 is set to explore Penelope and Eloise's journey as friends after the scandal. As a result, we will see all the hardships and drama the characters will go through.

'I'd love to say that we start episode 1 and we're, like, back together. We're not. She's [Eloise] human. But it's probably good fuel, I think,' Claudia added.

Furthermore, the relationship between the two characters will be so important that Bridgerton's EP believes it will largely define the plot of the third installment, alongside the main Colin/Penelope arc.

'I think it's kind of the second love story of the season. And it's one of my favorite things to watch,' Shonda Rhimes said during the promo.
