The Incident and 4 Other Mind-Bending Movies to Watch After Black Mirror Season 7

Creepy conspiracies and a journey through your own consciousness.
The seventh season of the anthology series Black Mirror recently premiered. If you've already seen all the episodes and want to continue your journey through dark fantasies about the future, we've got five similar movies for you.
1. The Incident, 2014
In The Incident two parallel stories unfold: in one, two criminal brothers and a policeman pursuing them find themselves trapped on an endless staircase, and in the other, a family with two children drives along an endless highway, unable to leave the closed route.
The characters are stuck in a loop, each day repeats the previous one, and time ceases to be linear. The viewer is gradually drawn into this strange labyrinth, and behind the initial absurdity of the plot, an ominous pattern gradually emerges.
2. Demonlover, 2002
Diane is working for two competing corporations locked in a dirty battle for control of the 3D animated pornography market. Her mission is to disrupt a multi-million dollar deal.
At first everything goes according to plan, but over time Diane realizes that she has become a pawn in someone else's game: there are spies everywhere, strange websites where even torture is commodified.
But most frightening of all is the oppressive feeling that the line between virtual and real life has long since been erased.
3. eXistenZ, 1999
Allegra, a biotech video game developer, becomes a target during a test presentation of her new development, a game called eXistenZ, which is controlled by bio-plugs implanted in the player's body.
Allegra involves an intern, Ted, in the events, making him an accidental partner in a journey into the virtual world. Together they plunge into the reality of the game, where every action, every word can be part of a script – or part of someone's real attempt to destroy the system.
The further they go, the more confused the levels of reality become, and it becomes clear that there is no easy way out of eXistenZ.
4. Lucid Dream, 2017
Journalist Choi Dae-ho is going through hard times: a few years ago, someone kidnapped his little son from an amusement park, and the police have long since lost hope of finding the criminal.
One day, Dae-ho learns about a scientific experiment that makes it possible to control dreams and relive past events. In an attempt to find at least one clue, Dae-ho decides to take part in the experiment.
With each new dream, he delves deeper into the secrets of his own mind, and finds himself on the trail of a much larger and more sinister conspiracy than he could have imagined.
5. The Parallax View, 1974
Journalist Joe is initially skeptical about the strange coincidences surrounding the senator's murder, but when witnesses to the tragedy begin to die, including his close friend, he is forced into a dangerous game of trying to get to the bottom of the truth behind the official story.
The deeper he delves into the investigation, the clearer it becomes that there is something much more terrifying behind the case – perhaps an entire organization carefully covering its tracks.
