And there was no The Weeknd's Tedros in it. Well, not directly.

HBO's drama The Idol, co-created by Sam Levinson, Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim, has been receiving scathing reviews for almost a month now. The most criticized element of the show seems to be its explicit, disturbing sex content and the manipulative nature of the main relationship between The Weeknd's dark character Tedros and Lily-Rose Depp's troubled pop star Jocelyn.

The new episode, titled 'Stars Belong to the World,' released Sunday, June 25, certainly had more of that. But amid the disturbing graphic scenes, there was one that felt surprisingly real and worthy.

'Whoever was the intimacy coordinator for the sex scene between Jocelyn & Rob deserves an award,' a viewer commented on the episode. 'I straight up forgot this was a show.'

Rob, played by Karl Glusman, is an actor and Jocelyn's ex-boyfriend, whom she invites to her house after finally realizing that she can't exactly trust Tedros. Although Jocelyn and Rob broke up after a cheating scandal, the two clearly still have feelings for each other, as their sex scene, which takes place not long after Rob arrives at the house, feels intimate and sensual.

'That scene was hotter than all the Tedros scenes!' a viewer wrote on Reddit.

Fans couldn't help but compare the Rob/Jocelyn sex scene to the numerous Tedros/Jocelyn moments that felt forced and cringeworthy. While Jocelyn is clearly using Rob to get back at Tedros, who was listening at the door and crying throughout the scene, her sex with Rob was emotionally charged and real, which means she may still have a connection with her ex.

This scene, along with the torture shown earlier in the episode, also reveals the complexity of Jocelyn's character. While in the early episodes, everyone saw her as a victim of Tedros' manipulation, Episode 4 made viewers question who was manipulating whom.

'I think the differences of Jocelyn in the sex scenes show that she is also using Tedros to a degree. Being with him is a fun time that is helping her get music out again, but it also seems that once she is done with that stuff, he will be gone for someone she has a true connection with,' a fan explained.

Episode 5 of The Idol is set to premiere on June 2, 2023.
