The Flash Director Andy Muschietti Teases Imminent Updates on DCU Batman Film The Brave and the Bold
Andy Muschietti remains at the helm of The Brave and the Bold, keeping the film charging ahead.
DC Studios has been oddly quiet about its new Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. That silence just cracked a little: the director says news is coming soon. Not today, not tomorrow, but soon-ish.
Where The Brave and the Bold stands right now
Andy Muschietti, the director of The Flash, is still the guy steering The Brave and the Bold. When DC announced it, the pitch was a story about Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne. That is still the intention, according to Andy’s producing partner (and sister) Barbara Muschietti, who told Variety the film is moving forward, even if they can’t talk details yet.
Andy chimed in with a timeline: give it a couple of months and they can finally say more. He also immediately joked that he’d already said too much.
'We have to wait a few, a couple of months to start talking about it... I screwed it already.'
Gunn’s earlier tease: things might have shifted
Before this, the last meaningful hint came from DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn. He cautioned that some elements have changed since that initial announcement, and specifically said there’s still flux around the character’s family situation. Read: the Damian angle and how the kid’s parentage factors in may not be locked to the first draft you saw on fan wikis.
Gunn also said there’s no shortage of big-name actors trying to throw on the cowl. His words, not mine: you’d struggle to find actors who don’t want to be Batman.
Meanwhile, across town in the other Bat-verse
If you’re keeping your timelines straight, Robert Pattinson’s Batman is on a separate track and is currently slated to return in 2027 with The Batman Part 2. Different corner of the franchise, different rules.
- Project: The Brave and the Bold, the DCU’s in-universe Batman movie
- Director: Andy Muschietti (The Flash)
- Status: Barbara Muschietti says it’s moving ahead; Andy says expect real updates in a couple of months
- Story aim: Originally Bruce and Damian Wayne; Gunn says the family/parentage specifics are still in flux
- Casting: Nothing announced; Gunn says lots of A-listers want the role
- Separate track: Robert Pattinson’s The Batman Part 2 is due in 2027
So the takeaway: it’s happening, the vibe is 'be patient,' and the Damian piece might not look exactly how you expect. When they stop teasing and start talking, I’ll have the good stuff. For now, set your Bat-clock to 'a couple of months.'
