The Supernatural spin-off failed to impress the network's producers.

When The CW and Jensen Ackles teamed up to produce The Winchesters, a prequel to the beloved Supernatural, everyone was sure that this series would run for years, break records, and become the hit that the network so desperately needed.

However, after just one season of 13 episodes, The CW pulled the plug on the project, not even giving it a second chance to shine. But it looks like Jensen Ackles is not ready to give up!

According to the actor, who served as a producer on The Winchesters, he and his writing team had a five-year plan for the show, and The CW's decision to cancel it came as a huge shock to them. Ackles was sure that the planned future seasons would have made the show a real hit, as the first installment was only considered to be an appetizer.

'We were talking not only about the story and where we wanted to take our cast, we were talking about who we were going to bring back from [Supernatural],' Ackles said. 'We were putting together a lot of tricks to keep up our sleeve and keep it exciting, not just for the new fans but for the returning fans as well.'

It looks like Ackles was planning on inviting some of the original cast members to join The Winchesters. Naturally, fans are really upset now, knowing that their chances of seeing the beloved characters again have been destroyed by The CW.

However, Ackles is not giving up hope and is urging fans to save the show and support The Winchesters as the producer tries to find a new home for the project. So far, no streaming services or other networks are interested in continuing The Winchesters with their money, but fans are hoping for the best.

A few people, however, argue that the story was nice and succinct, so there is no need for a continuation.

'I did enjoy [The Winchesters], but I kind of feel like the story was told and wrapped up quite nicely so this doesn't feel like a surprise, it always felt as though this was only meant for one season,' one fan said.

Still, most fans really want to see The Winchesters' second season become a reality. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for another network to pick up Ackles' script and prove The CW wrong in their decision to abandon the show.
