The Crown Season 6 Premiere Date, Episodes Release Schedule
The final chapter in the story of the royal family is coming soon.
We've been waiting all year for news of the upcoming final season of The Crown, the historical series created by Peter Morgan that doesn't shy away from the drama, intrigue, and dark secrets behind the scenes of the British royal family.
No other series has divided the public into two camps like The Crown: the supporters of monarchy, who publicly criticize and condemn the show for its one-sidedness, and its opponents, who support the overthrow of the outdated institution.
Soon, viewers of the show, regardless of their political and ethical views, will once again be activated to continue the debate: this time not on the picket lines in the UK, but in social media segments dedicated to The Crown Season 6. Finally, Netflix has announced the release date. Unfortunately, as in the case of Stranger Things, we will have to wait twice for the release of new episodes.
New Trailer and Date Announcement
On October 9, Netflix released the trailer for The Crown Season 6. In the clip, we see Queen Elizabeth II, played by Imelda Staunton, walking past her own portraits from her youth (portrayed by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman) and reflecting on the sacrifices she had to make for a 'duty' that cost her at least her personal life (and probably other people's lives as well).
That's when the details of the new season's release were revealed. Though it's not the most common option favored by Netflix, this time the streaming service decided to turn up the heat by splitting the season into two parts. As with previous seasons, the final one will consist of 10 episodes: the first four will be released on November 16, while the last six will be released just under a month after, on December 14.
Upcoming Events
The upcoming events will begin where the previous season ended – in 1997, Labour Party leader Tony Blair took office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and the years of his cabinet will be the chronological frame of the season.
A few months after he took office, there will be a terrible tragedy, the death of then former Princess Diana (the role will be played by Elizabeth Debicki) and her lover Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla), and the show will certainly touch on Elizabeth II's involvement in what happened. In addition, The Crown will touch on the events of Prince William and Kate Middleton's relationship history, as well as the 2005 wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
