The Complete List of TV Shows Disney+ Canceled in 2023
Some of them haven't premiered yet.
As you may have noticed, 2023 hasn't been the best year for television. Arguably, the writers' and actors' strikes are the main reasons behind it, putting many major productions like Young Sheldon and Grey's Anatomy to a halt. But even before the guilds took action, networks and streaming services had canceled some of their shows.
Here's a complete list of projects let go by Disney+ in 2023.
The Mysterious Benedict Society (2 seasons, canceled in January)
This children's spy adventure series, revolving around a group of kids who have to foil an evil man's plans to take control over the world using other kids, made its debut in 2021 and garnered a decent following. Consequently, the show was renewed for a second installment but was canceled at the beginning of this year due to budget cuts.
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (2 seasons, canceled in February)
The small-screen spin-off of the eponymous 1992 film premiered in 2021 and became a beloved family sports comedy-drama following a team of underdog hockey players. However, the show didn't make it past two seasons.
Big Shot (2 seasons, canceled in February)
Another sports dramedy, this show is set on Marvyn Corn, a university basketball coach who was fired from his job and had to take up a similar position at an elite high school for girls in California. Having spanned two seasons since its release in 2021, the series was canceled and removed from Disney+.
Willow (1 season, canceled in March)
This expensive-looking fantasy drama following the titular mage lasted only a season on the streaming service before being canceled even though the script for a second season had already been prepared.
National Treasure: Edge of History (1 season, canceled in April)
The small-screen spin-off of the eponymous film series, this adventure drama was ditched by the platform only several months after its release in December 2022.
Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. (2 seasons, canceled in August)
This Hawaiian-styled Grey's Anatomy for kids, based on ABC's Doogie Howser, has enjoyed moderate success since its debut in 2021, but has still been canceled as a means to cut costs recently.
Nautilus (not released, removed from Disney+ in August)
Little is known about this adventure series as it hasn't been released yet even though it was said to be ready back in August. Disney+ gave up the project which is now looking for a new streamer to house it.
The Spiderwick Chronicles (not released, removed from Disney+ in August)
Based on the book cycle of the same name, this unreleased premiere, consisting of eight episodes, was sold by the streaming service to The Roku Channel as a means to cut certain costs.
