The Boys Star Jensen Ackles Drops New Release Window for Vought Rising Spinoff

Soldier Boy is back on the job. Jensen Ackles just dropped a quick but pretty telling update on The Boys prequel Vought Rising, and it is exactly the mile marker fans were hoping to hear: Season 1 has wrapped filming.

Vought Rising hits a major milestone

Ackles posted a video from set and led with the confirmation fans wanted:

'Final day of filming, Vought Rising, Season 1.'

In the caption, he added a little fireworks display:

'Finishing out with a bang! It’s been an absolute thrill ride.'

He also gave the team their flowers (with very on-brand phrasing):

'Thanks to the crew and cast and all those that gave so much time and energy to make this happen. You’re all a bunch of psychos... and I love you for it.'

The video shows Ackles gearing up as Soldier Boy, which apparently takes a small pit crew of three to five people. Not exactly a low-maintenance wardrobe.

What this prequel is actually about

Vought Rising winds the clock back to the 1950s to dig into both the early days of the Vought corporation and a younger Soldier Boy. The setup is a twisted murder mystery that threads through the company’s origins and the first generation of superheroes under its banner. It is one of the clearest on-the-record updates we have gotten about where the show is in its timeline toward release.

Aya Cash is back as Klara Risinger, better known as Stormfront. Yes, that should make for some spicy connective tissue with what we already know from The Boys.

When to expect it, and what is next for The Boys

Prime Video has not dated Vought Rising yet. The current expectation points to late 2026, with early 2027 also on the table.

In the meantime, The Boys returns for its fifth and final season on April 8. New episodes drop Wednesdays, wrapping up with the finale on May 20.
