The once-popular series became unbearable after some time.

Back in 2013, the whole world went crazy for NBC's new show, The Blacklist. The James Spader-led crime procedural managed to reinvigorate the network's tired formula, giving viewers a compelling antihero in the form of Raymond 'Red' Reddington and an interesting 'villain of the week' format that kept the show feeling fresh even with more than 20 episodes per season.

But as great as the show was, it began to disappoint and anger fans in recent years, all thanks to the producers' decision to keep the project on the air as long as possible.

Of course, even in the obnoxious last season, it was still interesting to follow Red on his quest to avenge his former villainous friends, and people were dying to know his real identity, only to get one of the stupidest finales in recent television history. After such an insulting end to the once-great show, many fans claimed that The Blacklist should've ended long ago.

It's only natural that long-running network shows start to feel increasingly boring as the seasons go on, but The Blacklist had a huge drop in quality after the stellar Season 5, as both the writing and the acting got significantly worse. That's why fans feel that NBC should have canceled the project after the fifth installment, protecting the show's legacy at the cost of fewer seasons.

'You have finished watching the best part of the show. Please stop watching so you can hold onto the parts of the show that you loved. At least your head canon will be intact, and your mind won't be endlessly messed with for no goddamn reason,' a Redditor said, urging new viewers to save their time and not watch Seasons 6 through 10.

Fans also note that, while Red was still incredible after Season 5, his colleague Liz Keen wasn't as compelling as she used to be. Becoming one of the most boring and annoying characters on the show, Liz pretty much ruined every episode with her erratic antics and changed personality.

With so many lackluster episodes and the nightmare of an ending, watching The Blacklist past Season 5 is simply not worth it. You'll only get frustrated with new episodes, probably destroying even great first seasons for yourself in the process.
