Since its premiere in 2017, Young Sheldon has become one of the most popular comedy shows and garnered a huge following. Viewers love the sitcom for its casting, writing and humor, as well as the great mix of comedy and drama.

Perhaps one of the show's greatest creative decisions is the way the writers allow fans to dislike their characters, which makes them more realistic and relatable.

In some cases, however, a character may become so annoying that people just wish they would leave the show. Here are three such characters mentioned in fans' discussions on Reddit.

3. Dale Ballard

The grumpy baseball coach is one of Young Sheldon's least favorite characters for many fans. Although viewers admire Craig T. Nelson's performance, nobody seems to care about Dale's arc at all. If anything, fans find the way he treats other characters like Dr. Sturgis and Missy abysmal.

On top of that, Dale's relationship with Meemaw doesn't sit well with fans. The character appears to be toxic, controlling, and prone to pouting when he doesn't get his way. Fans think it is time to say goodbye to Dale.

2. Paige Swanson

Again, McKenna Grace's performance in Young Sheldon is good, but her character feels underdeveloped and too secondary to many viewers. Paige was introduced as another child genius and rival of Sheldon's, but once their feud ended, the writers seemed to have no idea what to do with the character.

Even though Paige's rebellious and depressed storyline had a lot of potential, it now feels rather bland and going nowhere. As a result of poor writing choices, the character ended up being self-centered and negative to the point of being destructive to herself and everything around her. Besides, fans think that her arc has no real significance to the main plot.

1. Pastor Jeff

The most hated Young Sheldon character is Jeffrey Difford, aka Pastor Jeff. This character went from being a fun Ned Flanders-type personality in the early seasons to a hypocritical bully by Season 5.

Pastor Jeff is blindly religious and often views natural human behavior as sinful. He is intolerant, hypocritical, and judgmental, and fans are frustrated with the way he treats Mary when she needs his support. As a result, many people just want to see the character go.
