Teyana Taylor Won’t Rest Until One Battle After Another Gets a Sequel
Teyana Taylor is begging Paul Thomas Anderson to greenlight a One Battle After Another sequel centered on Perfidia.
Paul Thomas Anderson has a monster on his hands. His Leonardo DiCaprio-led action-thriller One Battle After Another has steamrolled through the 2026 awards run, and the chatter around a sequel is getting loud enough that one of its breakout stars is basically grabbing the mic herself.
Where the film stands right now
One Battle After Another has been a force this season, picking up major wins at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Critics' Choice Awards. It is also sitting in frontrunner territory heading into the 98th Academy Awards with 13 nominations, including Best Picture. Translation: the industry is paying attention, and the studio would be out of its mind not to at least kick the tires on more.
Teyana Taylor wants back in, badly
Teyana Taylor, who has been working steadily in films since her big-screen debut in 2010, turned the volume all the way up with this one. Her performance as Perfidia Beverly Hills is the role everyone is calling her true breakout — the one that stamped her as top-tier. She already has a Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actress in her pocket for it, plus an Oscar nomination to match.
And she is not subtle about what she wants next.
"The conversations are very, very real," she said of early talks about a sequel.
"I want to give everybody confirmation that I am currently begging PTA to give us that. I'm begging him to give us that."
Why her character begs for a sequel
Perfidia is a far-left revolutionary and a leading figure in the activist group French 75. She is also the ex of DiCaprio's Bob Ferguson and the mother of Willa, played by Chase Infiniti. The film puts Bob and Willa on the run, living off-grid, after Perfidia sells them out to dodge prison time — a gnarly, complicated betrayal that leaves a lot of emotional shrapnel on the table. It's the kind of sharp, messy setup that practically dares a filmmaker to circle back for another round.
Bottom line
The movie is racking up trophies, the Oscars are within striking distance, and one of its biggest surprises — Taylor as Perfidia Beverly Hills — is openly campaigning to return. If Anderson decides to go another round, the ground is already laid.
This is a developing story.
