Ted Mosby Curse Strikes Again: Where in the World Is Josh Radnor in 2023?
Josh Radnor is gone for good.
Summary
- Josh Radnor is the only member of the HIMYM cast who became less famous after the show ended.
- Radnor's decision to shy away from traditional romantic lead roles after the sitcom ended puzzled many.
- The actor has no desire to restart his career.
When How I Met Your Mother ended its nine-season run in 2014, everyone was sure that all of the main cast members would go on to have stellar careers in Hollywood, as the popularity they gained from the iconic sitcom was certainly enough for them to capitalize on.
However, this turned out to be only partially true, as while Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan all managed to cement themselves as huge stars, the show's lead actor, Josh Radnor, failed to do so.
When the sitcom was still on the air, Radnor looked like the perfect choice to play any kind of romantic lead, and people were dead certain that he would take that career path when his time as Ted Mosby came to an end, but he refused, and here's why.
Aversion to fame
More than a decade after the end of the sitcom, Radnor failed to appear in any kind of notable roles, which made fans question his acting abilities and determination. However, it looks like these things had nothing to do with the actor's decline into obscurity, as it seems that this career trajectory was entirely up to Radnor himself.
When the hit show ended, Radnor was always saying how much he hated the fame and the interactions with the fans who called him Mosby, as he was always trying to become a serious performer, not a comedy actor.
After his time on the sitcom, Radnor only appeared in two notable projects, but in very small roles - Amazon Prime's Hunters and Fleishman Is in Trouble made some people respect him more as a performer, but they certainly failed to elevate him to the level of his former co-stars. But he seems perfectly content with this turn of events.
Radnor isn't that interested in becoming a huge star, as his smaller work in movies and shows allows him to develop as an actor, and he's not really interested in earning more money, as How I Met Your Mother set him up for life.
