Ted Lasso and 4 Other TV Shows With the Most Heartwarming Christmas Episodes
These episodes will warm you up on the coldest of nights.
Everyone has their own holiday traditions. Some re-watch their favorite horror movies on Halloween, while others spend the entire month of December enjoying the best Christmas episodes of their favorite TV shows.
We've saved you time and selected the five best holiday episodes of the most popular and beloved TV series.
1. How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014) – Season 2 Episode 11
When Lily returns to New York in the second season, her friends try to forget that she left Marshall and made him unhappy. Although the lovers have reconciled, Ted still holds a grudge against Lily.
She accidentally overhears his message, in which his friend calls her the Grinch (he actually uses an expletive, but it is replaced with another, as Josh Radnor's character tells this story to his children). Lily is seriously offended and decides to act like a Grinch and steal Christmas.
2. Ted Lasso (2020-2023) – Season 2 Episode 4
Ted Lasso has definitely made this world a better place. There's always a lot of optimism, support and ingenuity in it. It's no surprise that the Christmas episode of the second season has all of that, multiplied by two.
Ted Lasso is sad on the eve of Christmas, and Rebecca invites him to join her on an important mission to bring joy to others. The coach is so filled with the spirit of the holiday and helping others that there is no room in his heart for sadness.
And Roy and Keeley, like Hugh Grant in Love Actually, go from house to house in London looking for a dentist.
3. The Big Bang Theory (2007-2019) – Season 7 Episode 11
The Big Bang Theory has run for 12 seasons, and has repeatedly tackled the topic of Christmas and other holidays, each time celebrating in a special way: playing DnD, making peace with their mothers, or dressing up as the Justice League to win a New Year's costume contest.
Sheldon travels to Texas to attend the birth of his sister. At this time, the rest of the group gathers at Leonard and Sheldon's house and begins to prepare for Christmas.
Sheldon is usually not the biggest fan of the holiday traditions, so everyone thinks that everyone will be better off without him. But that is only at first glance: Penny, Leonard, Amy and others begin to imagine what their lives would be like without Sheldon.
4. Supernatural (2005-2020) – Season 3 Episode 8
Even those who battle evil spirits are no strangers to holiday motifs. Don't expect cozy companionship, laughter and fun from Supernatural, but there is plenty of crime, pagan gods, mystery and Christmas decorations.
Sam and Dean travel to Michigan to investigate a series of strange occurrences. Someone dressed as Santa Claus is dragging victims up chimneys and into homes, then killing them mercilessly. In the victims' homes, the brothers find wreaths similar to those used in pagan rituals.
They manage to find the creators of the wreaths, but the case remains very confusing. Throughout the adventure, Sam and Dean argue about the need to celebrate Christmas and have different views.
5. The Office (2005-2013) – Season 2 Episode 10
The Dunder Mifflin office decides to play Secret Santa. Jim, who has long been in love with Pam, has prepared a special gift for her, hoping that when she opens it, she will definitely guess his feelings.
Michael buys Ryan an expensive iPod and is upset when he gets a potholder, so he suggests a new game. The essence of the game is this: all the gifts are shared and sorted out by the employees in a circle.
When it is their turn, they can either take the gift they want or "steal" what they want from a neighbor. Pam, not knowing about Jim's gift, really wants the iPod.
