Taylor Momsen has swapped sets for stages and isn’t looking back. The Gossip Girl and The Grinch alum says her future lies with The Pretty Reckless, but she did open up about whether she’d ever return to acting.

Taylor Momsen answered the Will you act again? question, and the short version is: she has moved on. The Pretty Reckless is the priority, the plan, and the point. Acting was a whole other life.

Where she stands on acting now

At Steven Tyler's seventh annual Jam for Janie Grammy viewing party on February 1, Momsen was asked if a return to acting is on the table. She kept the diplomatic caveat that she has learned not to say never, but immediately parked the idea. That door feels about as closed as it gets for her.

Even the prospect of reviving a past role did not tempt her. She laughed it off, saying she is perfectly happy right where she is — out on the road, preferably the kind of road that comes with massive amps and pyro.

'Touring with AC/DC.'

Why music won

Momsen has been clear about this for years: acting belonged to her childhood; music is what she chose. She is enjoying her life, loves making records, and wants control over the work. No character to hide behind, no middlemen, just the songs and the band she built.

'I don't like being someone's pawn. I like being in charge. I like writing the script. I like writing songs. That's everything.'

A quick rewind

  • Age 5: Broke out as Cindy Lou Who opposite Jim Carrey in How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
  • 2007–2010: Played Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl; returned for the 2012 series finale.

So, if you are holding out for a Jenny Humphrey comeback or a Grinch reunion, do not. Momsen is all-in on The Pretty Reckless, and by the sound of it, that is where she plans to stay.
