Fans are not okay with the way beloved characters have changed.

Netflix's melodrama about three longtime friends solving their personal and professional problems in the South Carolina town of Serenity proved to be a great cozy show to enjoy on the long pandemic days of 2020, and the stellar second season made it clear that Sweet Magnolias' creative team was committed to keeping the fans happy.

However, the recently released third season changed that in an instant. Fans say that the overall quality of the show dropped so low that some even began skipping scenes to avoid hearing obnoxiously written dialogue.

But most of all, people are not okay with how some of the beloved characters became pale shadows of themselves in Season 3, with Isaac Downey being the most prominent example. The boy with the heartbreaking backstory first appeared in Season 1 and seemed to be a possible contender for the title of Sweet Magnolias' best-written character.

Unfortunately, by Season 3, Isaac started to look like a total creep, lashing out at everyone around him while keeping a low profile, which is not something fans ever thought of him as before. It looks like the writers simply decided to add more drama to their story by turning the previously well-liked character into a detestable man with major anger management issues.

'Overall, I liked Isaac, but the way he acted seemed really odd. He was overboard nice and wholesome all the time, and then would randomly snap at people (like Bill and Erik) in a couple of scenes. Maybe it was just the way they directed his character, but a person like that in real life who is super nice and wholesome all the time, and then has some pretty major anger outbursts, comes across as a little creepy,' one fan pointed out.

Isaac changed so much that some fans suspected that the writers were actually setting him up for a true villainous role in the possible upcoming season. For most viewers, the change feels completely unnatural and strange, considering that Isaac was one of Sweet Magnolias' sweetest characters until the recent disaster of a season.
