Susan's story is not only one of incredible success, but also of humbleness.

Susan Boyle's success story is an example of miraculous reversal of fortune.

Boyle got the idea of becoming a professional singer from singing at her local parish, but for the following ten years, she only won a few local competitions. She used her own money to record singles and send them to recording companies and national talent competitions, which back then were unable to recognize the singer's incredible talent.

Everything changed when Susan decided to enter the third season of Britain's Got Talent.

She had to overcome her anxiety to do this, particularly as she was already 47 at the time. And though Boyle didn't get to win first place, she managed to make a name for herself with her impressive performances on the show.

Boyle's first album, I Dreamed a Dream (2009), became the fastest-selling debut album of all time in the UK — and one of the best-selling albums worldwide — and that was only the beginning of a great career.

By now, Susan has released eight albums, sold over 25 million records, and performed at a number of important events and ceremonies (including the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics). But despite her fame and wealth, some things in Boyle's life haven't changed at all.

Although Boyle's net worth is estimated to be around $40 million now, according to Celebrity Net Worth, she still lives in her old, tiny house in Blackburn, Scotland, where she grew up with her parents and eight siblings.

She remained there with her parents and cared for them until their deaths.

Unfortunately, Boyle's parents did not live long enough to see their daughter's meteoric rise to fame — although her mother urged Susan to pursue her dream career as a singer and that was part of the reason she decided to audition for Britain's Got Talent.

But nevertheless, even after achieving fame and financial success, the singer still did not use the money to improve her living conditions. In an interview with The Guardian, Susan Boyle explained the reasons why she preferred to stay in her old place:

'Why shouldn't I? I feel Mum is still here, and there are so many good memories. I did buy a posh house after BGT, but I never moved in. My niece lives there now.'

So while some stars throw their money around and indulge in luxurious living, Susan Boyle is clearly a completely different species, letting her niece live in her posh villa while staying in her parents' old house.

Somehow, however, this is not surprising because this little detail just adds to the singer's incredibly cool and cozy personality — and fans have always loved Boyle for that.
