Surprising Former Love is Blind Star Backs Irina Despite Controversy
Season 4's most prominent villain seems to have received support from a former contestant.
Netflix's Love is Blind undoubtedly has a unique premise: contestants must get to know one another, fall in love, and commit to each other without ever meeting in person.
Naturally, not all the current Season 4 contestants managed to progress beyond the first phase of the show. However, the fandom widely disliked two individuals who made it to the next stage, Micah and Irina.
While Micah was viewed as a minor annoyance, Irina became a villain for many due to her offensive behaviour, such as laughing at people crying or flirting with other girls' fiancés.
Although Irina was eliminated from the show some time ago after her engagement to Zack fell through, fans still remember her negatively, labelling her as annoying and immature. Yet, it seems a former Love is Blind contestant has taken it upon himself to defend Irina from her detractors.
Shayne Jansen from Season 2 was also perceived as a villain due to some of his controversial actions. However, after the second season aired, Shayne changed his ways significantly. Recently, he took to Instagram to encourage fans to stop hating on Irina.
‘I know I'll get a ton of backlash for this. But these comments are honestly absolutely disgusting. Yes, what she did was horrible ... I don't defend it. But seeing most of these comments, the hate some of you have is sad. My first four [episodes] of my season I couldn't get out of bed and was horribly depressed from the hate and comments,’ Shayne wrote under one of Irina's posts.
He later posted the screenshot with this comment on his own page, but that post has now been deleted as well.
While fans appreciate Shayne's gesture, most are still convinced that Irina brought the hate upon herself for some cheap power. However, fans hope that Irina realises her mistakes and changes her ways soon.
