Surprise, Surprise: Kim Kardashian Didn't Ruin AHS: Delicate
The new season is finally here.
FX's American Horror Story began its run in 2011 as one of the freshest and most unique shows on the air, single-handedly bringing horror back to television and cementing Ryan Murphy as a bona fide series creator. In recent years, however, the show's quality has plummeted to ungodly depths, as the acting, writing, and general vibe of the show began to resemble something closer to a joke than an actual series.
However, Murphy and his team were determined to right that wrong with Season 12, which was set to star Emma Roberts, Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne.
Although Murphy promised a glorious return to form with the new season, fans were quite worried about the whole affair, fearing that Kim's involvement would end AHS once and for all. And now that the premiere episode has finally arrived on FX, fans are ready to weigh in on Kim's acting chops.
Kim surprised everyone
It should be said that fans were pretty sure that Ryan Murphy would do everything he could to coach Kim on how to act, since he was really betting big on her playing one of the leads and couldn't afford to flop. Despite the fact that Kim has been acting in a reality show for most of her life, performing in a serious movie or TV show is much more complicated, and people were afraid that Kim would look terrible compared to Roberts.
Luckily, that didn't happen at all, as after watching the premiere episode, fans were stunned to find themselves actually enjoying Kim's take on her character. Instead of using her own persona to make AHS popular with her fans, Kim actually tried to create a new character, which is a commendable thing to do with her acting skills alone.
'It was a bit of a turn-off at first since I’m not a huge Kardashian fan, plus the premise reminded me of Rosemary’s Baby. But I caved today and watched it and was pleasantly surprised. I’m gonna stick with it,' a fan said.
However, some viewers were quick to point out that since they hadn't expected much from the show, Kim's performance was nothing to change their minds about AHS being passable at best.
'I knew she’d at the very least be passable and that’s exactly what it was. Her presence didn’t negatively influence my view on the season. It was an alright premiere,' a fan noted.
AHS Season 12 Episode 2 will arrive on FX on September 27, 2023.
