Superman Deleted Scene Unites Mister Terrific and Krypto — and Finally Explains Those Bloody Set Leak Photos

A blink-and-you-miss-it beat didn’t make the final cut — one of several deleted scenes now surfacing and stirring fresh debate.
Well, this is delightful: a tiny deleted scene from James Gunn's Superman just popped up online, and it finally explains one of those goofy set mysteries fans have been chewing on.
The clip
It is a quick bit with Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Krypto the Super Dog. Mister Terrific tracks Krypto to a pet shop with the magnificently groan-worthy name 'Pet it Be,' asks the good boy to give him a lift into the sky... and Krypto responds by chomping down on his foot instead. Not exactly a team-up. The internet immediately clocked this as the reason Gathegi was photographed on the Superman set with a bloody foot. Mystery solved, and honestly, a pretty funny one.
Why this is even online
Warner Bros. made the deleted scenes a digital exclusive, but the internet is the internet, so a snippet found its way to social media. If you want the official version, the digital release is where it lives, alongside a gag reel and James Gunn's director's commentary.
Where to watch and when
The rollout around Superman has been a little staggered, so here is the clean version:
- Digital release: Available August 15, with exclusive deleted scenes, a gag reel, and James Gunn's commentary
- Streaming: The movie hit HBO Max a few days before the disc release
- Physical release: Lands September 23
- Next DC dates: Supergirl opens June 26, 2026; Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow is officially announced and features Brainiac
What it sets up
If you stuck around for the credits, the Krypto handoff is already clear: the dog is actually Kara Zor-El's, not Kal-El's. The tag points Krypto and Kara toward an intergalactic trip together in Supergirl, so expect a lot more super-pup on that side of the DCU. As for Mister Terrific, the odds are good he shows up again in Man of Tomorrow, the newly announced Superman sequel bringing in Brainiac. Given how much Gunn likes to cross-pollinate his casts, I would bet those T-spheres are not done bouncing around.
