Suits LA Star Scores Major Role After NBC Axes the Series
After NBC axed Suits LA, Walking Dead alum Josh McDermitt is landing on his feet, joining CBS hit Fire Country in a recurring Season 4 role.
Josh McDermitt wasted no time finding his next TV home. Fresh off NBC pulling the plug on Suits LA, the Walking Dead alum is hopping over to CBS and suiting up for Fire Country Season 4 in a recurring role. Smart move. That show pulls numbers.
So what is he doing on Fire Country?
Per Deadline, McDermitt joins the current fourth season of Fire Country as Landon, and his first episode airs Friday, December 5. He is part of a new arc that also brings in Alona Tal and Conor Sherry as fellow recurring players.
Landon is introduced as a mild, unassuming guy who is Chloe's partner. They are in recovery mode after losing their home to wildfires, which is exactly the kind of personal fallout this show loves to play with.
The messy part (because of course there is one)
- Chloe used to tutor Bode Donovan back in high school. Secret crushes on both sides. Classic.
- Years later, Chloe's son, Tyler, crosses paths with Bode, pulling Bode and Chloe back into each other's orbit.
- Enter Landon, in the middle of that history, which sure sounds like a love triangle waiting to happen.
About that Suits LA situation
This move comes right after NBC decided not to move forward with more Suits LA. McDermitt had a key role on that offshoot earlier this year, but whether you want to call it a cancellation or just the network not proceeding with a second season, the result is the same: that chapter closed, and he moved on.
Where you know him from
McDermitt is best known as Eugene Porter on AMC's The Walking Dead, and he recently popped up in the Season 4 opener of HBO's The Righteous Gemstones. He has also turned up in Mad Men, Life in Color, Odious, Twin Peaks, Middle Man, and Creepshow.
Short version: Fire Country is adding fuel to the personal-drama fire, and McDermitt feels like a smart match for that kind of slow-burn chaos.
