The actor got his start on the iconic show.

Summary

  • The beloved actor came to prominence thanks to Suits, but it was the pilot episode of Sex and The City that really broke him into the mainstream.
  • Macht's role was small and forgettable, but he was able to build his entire career around it.

Just a few years ago, USA Network's Suits was best remembered as the show starring Meghan Markle, the future wife of Prince Harry and a rather divisive influencer in her own right. However, all that changed earlier this year, as when Netflix added the show to its library, millions of people realized that this legal drama was much more than just Markle's launch project.

Series star Gabriel Macht managed to make the most of the show's sudden resurgence, as his performance as Harvey Specter was the real reason many people decided to binge-watch Suits. However, this hit drama wasn't Macht's first notable role, as he actually got his first shot at fame back in 1998.

The City and Gabriel Macht

Even though Sex and The City is rightfully considered one of the most iconic comedy shows of all time, it wasn't like that when the pilot episode arrived on HBO, as no one was really sure if the project would appeal to audiences.

That's why it's quite shocking to see Macht in the very first episode of the future hit, as the actor's decision to try his luck with a promising show really helped his later career.

Macht played an artist named Barkley, and he even shared a scene with Sarah Jessica Parker, which was a huge deal for a young actor.

Although he was never asked to return for more episodes, the show's subsequent success clearly gave Macht a significant boost, as just two years later he landed a starring role in NBC's short-lived The Others.

In any case, Sex and The City helped a lot of rising stars with small roles, as the likes of Bradly Cooper and Justin Theroux both got their start in the iconic comedy.

Today, Macht is considered one of the best leading men in network television, and fans are eager to see what new show he will choose as his next project, as Macht's decided to take a sabbatical from acting after Suits ends in 2019 and hasn't appeared in anything since.
